I've had this book and the following book for some time just patiently sitting on my bookshelf. I think mostly I put off reading it is that I enjoy Briggs' work. I really do, but she very seldom writes in the High Fantasy genre. I want more books like this!
I thought the entirety of this book was intriguing to the point of deserved obsession. The magic system was done well, and the characters were inquisitively designed. The plot was outstanding, and interesting.
