Fairy Tail, Vol. 1: The Wicked Side of Wizardry (Fairy Tail, #1)Fairy Tail, Vol. 1: The Wicked Side of Wizardry by Hiro Mashima
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

We kick off on a brand new series of Manga named Fairy Tail. The basic of the world and plot centers around Mages. Yes you read correctly Mages. It has also been successful enough to be turned into an anime in Japan. I was hysterical and on the point of madness of being so happy with that development itself. I was already a fan of Hiro Mashima, whom had studied under my very favorite manga artist Eiichiro Oda, and had already had some success with the manga Groove Adventure Rave.
Well we meet our hero, Natsu Dragneel, and his cat Happy in the Town of Harujion. They are investigating a rumor of Salamander being in town. Natsu has a lot of back story that is explained in later volumes that I do not wish to ruin for everyone. So you will just have to read on for yourself if you wish to know the details.
Then enters Lucy, a Celestial Mage, who is out to join the infamous Mage Guild Fairy Tail. The three of them meet when a small crowd gathers around a mage calling himself Salamander, and from thereon in the plot takes a life of its own.
Join in on this heart wrenching, hysterically funny, and this perfect example of what being friends and family, and loyalty to them is all about.
Cheers and Very Happy Reading To You!

Fairy Tail, Vol. 2: The Book of Secrets (Fairy Tail, #2)Fairy Tail, Vol. 2: The Book of Secrets by Hiro Mashima
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Starting off with Chapter 7: The Weak Point of a Mage.
Natsu is pitted against a pair of mercenaries called the Vanish Brothers. They have a Heaven and Earth fighting style along with being strong against fire based Magic. This seems to be trouble for Natsu, but you would be mistaken. After defeating the pair a gorilla maid shows up to combat Fairy Tail's Salamander.
Now moving onto Chapter 8: Lucy vs. The Duke of Evaroo.
This is where it really starts getting really interesting. Lucy is in the sewer of the Mansion trying to escape from the Duke. He traps her, where he reveals some of his more unsavory deeds. This prompts Lucy to call him an Enemy of Literature. Happy comes to the rescue by helping Lucy get loose. As the teams mission was to destroy the book Daybreak by famous author Kemu Zaleon, Lucy has discovered a magically hidden secret in its pages. An all out Celestial battle then takes place in the underbelly of the rich mansion.
Later in Chapter 10: The Armored Mage.
We meet my very favorite character of all time Erza Scarlet.
Read more in this exciting Volume of Fairy Tail.

Fairy Tail, Vol. 3: Musical Murders (Fairy Tale, #3)Fairy Tail, Vol. 3: Musical Murders by Hiro Mashima
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This volume starts off in the Lullaby Arc Chapter 14: Titania.
Fairy Tail's strongest team composed of: Lucy, Natsu, Happy, Grey Fullbuster, and Erza Scarlet are up against the Dark Guild Eisenwald who is lead by Shinigami Erigor.
At the train station Erza and Lucy are up against the mass of the Dark Guild. Erza tells Lucy to stand back and we and Lucy are given a tutorial of how Erza's magic Requip is used. Excellent art in this scene by the way. While Grey and Natsu run on ahead to chase Erigor they are delayed by Rayule who uses flat finger cables as weapons. Grey yells to Natsu to go ahead and that he will catch up.
Continuing in Chapter 15: Fairies in the Wind.
Erigor traps the team in a magic known as Wind Wall while he continues towards the Guild Masters Regular Meeting with the Lullaby. This confuses Erza because she has never seen anything like it, and can't fight it.
Meanwhile at the Regular meeting MiraJane sends Master Markarov a message of the news of the new team formation, and he collapses from the shock.
You'll have to read for yourself to find out more about this action packed manga.

Fairy Tail, Vol. 4: Fairy Tail, Vol. 4: "S" Is for ScewUp by Hiro Mashima
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Volume 4 covers the Galuna Island Arc starting with Chapter 23: Crime and Punishment.
Erza has been arrested by the Magic Council. Come to find out Natsu isn't really in the jar he was captured in. He busts up Erza's council hearing making a complete fool of himself. Erza informs him that the arrest was a ruse of formality. Though she appreciated the thought and concern he showed on her behalf.
Continuing on to Chapter 24: Second Floor.
With greatly drawn scenes, we meet S-class mages Mystogan and the master's grandson Laxus. Later in the chapter Lucy is reviewing the hierarchy of mages in the guild.
Chapter 25: Cursed Island.
Natsu has stolen an S-class mission request from the second floor. The only reason Lucy agrees to go with Natsu and Happy is because one of the rewards is a Golden Zodiac Celestial Key.

Fairy Tail, Vol. 5: Gray-OutFairy Tail, Vol. 5: Gray-Out by Hiro Mashima
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Still continuing with the Galuna Island Arc and starting on Chapter 31: Fearful Poison Poison Jelly.
Lucy is left to protect the village, and the only thing she can think of is have her Celestial Spirit Virgo dig some pitfall traps. Much to the scorn of the spectators, which Natsu automatically falls into dislodging the ice that has encased him. Then the puppet mistress Sherry shows up flying with her giant rat Angelica dumping poison. Natsu spreads his brilliant flames larger than he has to the present. A spectacular scene that was masterfully done in a two page spread.
Continuing on into Chapter 32: Natsu vs Yuuka the Surge.
So a guy named Yuuka, with some really thick eye brows, shows up. I'm so reminded of the government worker from FLCL, and Rock Lee from Naruto. For just the eyebrows, and internally I'm thinking 'Those Eyebrows!' It's just that damn distracting, and Natsu takes him down pretty quickly. Leaving Sherry and Toby from Leon's group. It seems that they're objective is to finish off Grey, but Lucy interferes with Sherry causing Angelica to crash land.
If you want to know more, you'll have to read it for yourself.
Cheers and Happy Reading!

This volume comes to the conclusion of the Galuna Island Arc and starts with Chapter 40: Galuna Island: The Final Battle.
There has been a lot of back story of Lyon and Grey's past. We enter with the two of them in their biggest fight yet. Grey has the belief that Ur, their teacher, is still alive in the ice encasing the monster Deliora. Grey believes that Magic is a living thing not a tool, but a living part of yourself.
Meanwhile Natsu is tracking a strange smelling mage named Zalty. Who seems to be using an ancient magic that hasn't been recorded for ages, and has been lost. As he tells Natsu that his Dragonslayer magic is the same case.
Moving onto Chapter 41: Devil's Roar.
Grey starts to have a one up on Lyon. Grey explains that Lyon is out of balance which is the opposite of all that Ur taught them.
Deliora's ice has begun to melt, and the dog man Toby is still activating the Moon Melt ceremony which Natsu is racing towards so he can stop him. Yet the wizard Zalty is still getting in the way.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Finishing up the Tower of Heaven Arc starts off with Chapter 101: Rage Within the Red Earth.
The team makes their way back to the resort where Arc began, but on a much more somber note. Natsu is still sleeping and recovering from eating raw Lacrima. Erza apologizes profusely then notices that Juvia is missing. Grey explains that she has the intentions to join Fairy Tail.
Elsewhere Igneel sleeps in his volcano, and is disturbed by the Air Dragon Grandeeney. It seems that she is hen pecking him about Natsu. Brilliant art is displayed in this scene so I was a little distracted by that. Back at the resort is't time for the farewells to Erza's former crew after Natsu has woken up.
Continuing with Chapter 102
Basically the farewells have spanned across chapters, but does have an amazing two page spread for the fireworks sendoff.
Meanwhile Ultear is speaking to an anonymous person in a communications lacrima. She reveals that Zeref was merely sealed, and her objection and obsession is to unseal him.
That's the end of the Tower Of Heaven Arc, and will continue with the Fighting Festival Arc.

First and foremost I love MiraJane's fantastic dress on the volume cover!
Continuing in the Fighting Festival Arc starting with Chapter 110: Resign.
In this chapter we get to meet many different secondary character, and learn how they fight with their mage craft. Currently Freed is up against Reedus, and Grey is fighting Bickslow.
Bickslow is just a creepy character that I didn't warm up to until much later in the series so stick it out with him.
Meanwhile Laxus keeps goading Master Makarov to retire, and hand the guild over to his care.
What will the master do? Read and find out in this wonderfully fun tournament style arc.

The mage battle ensues, and when it looks rough for Mistgun, Erza and Natsu show up. Why do I feel that it needs to have a Mighty Mouse introduction?
