Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels, #1) by Anne Bishop

Daughter of the Blood (The Black Jewels #1)Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a very confusing yet intriguing read. Gruesome in some scenes, and bewildering in the explanations of the magic system that the world revolves around.

Flame (The Book of Sorahb, #1)Flame by Hilari Bell
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book had a fascinating plot, but not very heavy on action. The Persian outlook was also extremely interesting, and educational. There was also a bit of confusion on the title, and it was very hard for me to find a used copy of this book. I'm also still looking for the two following books.

Okay warning for you guys. This is a contemporary outlook on Alice and Wonderland.

You have to be in an Alice type of mood with an open mind for a different perspective. If not you will hate the execution of the story line. It does get ssssslllllloooooooooowwwwwww in some areas. Otherwise it's a fantastic read.

Seeing Redd (The Looking Glass Wars, #2) by Frank Beddor

Seeing Redd (The Looking Glass Wars, #2)Seeing Redd by Frank Beddor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow! This just dove right into the politics, and seems that it's rather outlandish seeing that the settings is Wonderland.
Okay, I'm really not a fan of this King Arch. Men, this guy is not an example to follow. If you do, you'll deserve the slap in the face you are sure to get someday.
The way Cat and Redd are introduced back into the story is so eerie and morbid.
The plot is absolutely everywhere dividing your attention here, there, and everywhere. I was also feeling like there is an aspect that is shadowed that Beddor is hinting at, yet this eludes us and remains unanswered for the next book.
I look forward to reading the next as soon as I can, but just might wait for a really rainy day.
Until next time.
Cheers Pretties!

ArchEnemy (The Looking Glass Wars, #3)ArchEnemy by Frank Beddor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The start of this book was utterly confusing, but that irons itself out pretty quickly.
I'm really not a fan of King Arch. Though I empathy for Redd. I can somewhat understand the anger that she has.
I felt a bit annoyed by Alyss's attitude. It seems that she has given up in the beginning, but I'm waiting for her to get over that.

An Inconvenient Book: Real Solutions to the World's Biggest ProblemsAn Inconvenient Book: Real Solutions to the World's Biggest Problems by Glenn Beck
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beck talks about a slew of problems. Global Warming, Marriage, Pornography, Divorce, Alcohol and Drug addiction, Muslim Extremists, Body Image and the media. He goes on to talking about molestation and it's political outlook on this, and it's lack of guidelines in some states. He has also talked about parenting which is by far the most hilarious topic he has ever discussed.

I laughed, I cried, I raged, and I put on my favorites of all time books. This guy... photo theneverendingstory3ogmork.jpg

were what made the book for me. Many personally valuable lessons were gleaned from the pages of this classic.

This is my all time favorite quote, and I wish I had been able to have this as my senior quote.

“If you have never wept bitter tears because a wonderful story has come to an end and you must take your leave of the characters with whom you have shared so many adventures, whom you have loved and admired, for whom you have hoped and feared, and without whose company life seems empty and meaningless.

If such things have not been part of your own experience, you probably won't understand what Bastian did next.”

This beautiful style of writing has also been probably the first of its kind. I loved the prose, and appreciated the structure of the adventure. I hope, as a parent that you have your daughters read this book. Some things are put so simply that your mind is blown from the realization of the thoughts.
Read one of the most influential books of my life.

Love, love, loved this book! I adore L. Frank Baum's writing style, and subtle political inserts all throughout the Oz series. I also wonder how long it's going to take for present day film makers attempt to make this into a movie again?

Now when I read The Child Thief, this is what I was expecting. An interesting alternate adventure on how the story of Peter Pan came about. Honestly this is brilliant, and makes so much sense. It's light-hearted and include some of the more memorable characters of the original Pan; along with a few new characters. This book is a really fun read, and I hope my kids like it as much as I did!

Raised by Wolves (Raised by Wolves, #1)Raised by Wolves by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

An interesting start so far. Though I see a lot of similarities from other werewolf series.

The cover: I liked it and reminded me of Kelly Armstrong's later books, that featured Savannah Levine.

The characters: They were fairly bland, and I felt like some of these characters shared personalities of other series.

GIFSoup

The Plot: Was interesting, and it was predictable in a fun fun type of attitude.
After finishing the book, I can say that it had a semi-satisfying cliff hanger ending. This would also be a good vacation book.

Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1) by D.D. Barant

Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1)Dying Bites by D.D. Barant
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I read a lot of bashing reviews on this one, and I really don't see the reasons. There are many historical facts that are all askew, yes; but this is written in a first person point view. Can we honestly ask our protagonist to be a walking encyclopedia? No, we can't. In fact Jace says herself that she doesn't know the answer; so she's just going to bullshit her way through and see how it turns out.
The action was really great, and I liked the absurdity of the settings. As ridiculous as the explanation of the paranormal factors it was well worth the aggravation that it took to get into this plot.
I really liked the supporting characters, and I could see growth in our protagonist by the end of the book.
So to me this was a 4 star book. That's all for now.

This was a really fun adventure to read. I liked the flow of the plot, and the brief dialogue between the characters. I certainly wasn't expecting a dragon, imps, a DeVil, and most a War unicorn. (War Unicorns wow you can barely find them in fiction outside of Heroes of Might and Magic III!*fangirlish rapture*)
Sorry about that and now for something completely different... And so it goes!

I was a little disappointed with this installment. There wasn't very much action, and Ahz was absent for a majority of the book. I think his character is why I keep coming back for more of these books.
Gleep does help with a lot as the comedic relief, and I adore Buttercup the War Unicorn.

This was an epic start to a awesome series. I'm really glad that Armstrong held out for Sci-Fi to come to her with an offer. I think they were the only network short of HBO to do the books justice.
The books are really detailed, foreshadowed, and to me really slow. That is until there is a huge action scene, but those seem to be few and far between.

I looked on with sever skepitism when I started reading this one, because I just didn't like the female protagonist. She was in the first two books of the series, and just wasn't a likable character. How ever the brilliant thing about evolution of a character, and humans is that we change. For better or for worse. The ending was fantastic, and immediately I picked up the next book.

Yay, more to Savannah's and Adam's story. I really do like Savannah now that she's grown up. Couldn't so much stand her when she was mentioned in No Humans Involved and Industrial Magic. Armstrong's writing has a great cycle of characters with their corresponding books. She has really impressed me with the last few books, and I'm looking forward to reading more of her future works.

My question though, is this the end of the Darkest Powers? If it is, can we expect the characters to make another appearance in The Gathering series?

I saw from a mile away exactly who Natasha was when he was introduced. I was chuckling the entire time he was making his big reveal. I read that this was supposed to be the last in the series, but I'm happy that there are more books to this series. The series is interesting.

I wasn't nearly as pleased with this installment as I was with the first three books in the series. I think the reason for this was having to wait for so long for this installment.
